COPPA Statement
MacVillage.net strongly believes in child safety on the Internet. As a result, MacVillage.net has created the following Child Privacy policy:
MacVillage.net is a general audience web site that complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). MacVillage.net collects personal information during the signup process. Members must be 13 years or older. If a child under the age of 13 wishes to have an account, the child must have a release form signed by a parent or guardian and faxed to MacVillage.net. Information collected is used internally by MacVillage.net to perform services, and is used by MacVillage.net Partners to provide services. MacVillage.net Partners may have different compliance statements.

The only information that MacVillage.net will ask a minor is non-identifiable information such as a zip code to get weather, or optional questions in polls and surveys (which on non-identifiable). Never will MacVillage.net collect information from a child under the age of 13 that could be used to identify them without parental/guardian permission.
In the event that MacVillage.net learns that a user is under the age of 13, the account could be suspended until a parent/guardian has been contacted to consent to use of the services at MacVillage.net or the account may be deleted with or without notice at the discretion of MacVillage.net. In most cases, MacVillage.net will make an attempt to contact the parent/guardian to alert them to the situation, and possibly notify authorities.
Under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, no web site operator is permitted to require a child under the age of 13 to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity as a condition of participation. MacVillage.net abides by this requirement.
MacVillage.net does not share personal identifying information about users who are under the age of 13 with advertisers or any other third parties. MacVillage.net will not contact users who are under the age of 13 with promotions or for marketing purposes (with the exception monthly newsletters and service notices). All children MacVillage.net knows are under 13 are subject to this Privacy Policy.
